Task 3 - Disconnected brief.

The music video will start with a close up of snow falling in slow motion. Everything else will be out of focus apart from the falling snow. This shot will last for about half of the piano intro. Then the background of a snow covered forest will come into focus. The camera travels though the trees as if it's flying and eventually you will see Jazz Morley at her piano on a frozen lakes. As she starts to sing, there is a close up of her face as well as close ups of her hands playing the piano and mid shots so you can see some of the background. When she says, "I know you're a man now", there will be a pan shot of a man in army uniform, starting with the feet and panning upwards. He's standing still and staring off into the distance. At first he's standing quite close to Jazz on the ice but then there's a close-up of the ice cracking and breaking and then they're both on separate ice caps.
When it gets to the chorus, the video goes to a flashback of two young children laughing and chasing each other in a field in the summer.
It goes back to the winter scene and when she sings, "I feel like we're drifting", there is an extreme long shot so you can see how far apart the two are becoming.
In the next chorus, there is another flashback of soldiers leaving their families. Jazz and her brother are looking at each other and the camera pans slowly around both of them. There is a close up of him smiling slightly and then turning slowly to leave. He looks back once and then continues to walk.
In the bridge, there is another close-up of her face, but this time she's looking right into the camera.
At the end of the song, you can see from jazz's point of view that the other ice cap has floated so far into the distance that you can hardly see it anymore.

Task 2 : Visualization

The song, Disconnected by Jazz Morley is quite slow and it played on piano. When I listen to it, I can imagine a lot of slow motion.
This song is about Jazz Morley's brother going to war, so I can imagine the music video being quite negative. When I listen to this song, for some reason I can imagine winter time and snow.
Summer is usually associated with happiness and positivity so I think that setting the video in winter time will be appropriate.

Analyzing sound in Misfits evaluation

I think that, overall, mine and India's presentation went well. We watched our chosen scene from Misfits in detail and managed to pick out and analyze all of the sound effects and music. It made it better that we enjoy the programme and have a good understanding of it.
We gathered our information by watching the episode in detail and making notes on the sounds that were used. We found it easy to research the programme itself because it's very popular.
The communication between me and india is good which made the presentation better and easier to complete.
If I had to do it again I probably would have explained each sound effect in more detail in order to get a better grade. We could have explained why those particular sounds were being used and why they were used at that time.

The song itself is quite slow and is played on the piano. The cinematography of the video is generally quite grey and dismal.
It starts off with Chris Martin on an inflatable mattress in what looks like a council estate covered in graffiti.
The walls are very grey and so is the weather. The song is quite depressing so the setting goes well with it.
Most of the lyrics are not interpreted in the video except for when he says, "I'm going back to the start". This because the video is played backwards so therefore he is literally going back to the start.
